Enhancing Cross-Cultural Understanding with JCCI, Mitsubishi Corporation (Americas) & The College of Staten Island

Published on August 22, 2025

JCCI welcomed foreign exchange students from Chuo University ’ s Global Business department and provided a presentation about the Chamber ’ s engagement in the city, from a business and economic standpoint. We had Matt D’Aquila, Senior Consultant at Abeam Consulting, share his insights about his career trajectories, cultural difference between the U.S. and Japanese workplace, and general life skills.

In the second half of their trip, the students were able to tour the offices of Mitsubishi Corporation (Americas) to get a first-hand look at the workplace and hear experiences from current employees.

A partnership program through the Center for Global Engagement at CUNY’ s College of Staten Island (CSI), the students have English language classes at CSI in addition to various company visits and other excursions centered on connecting academics with business administration, marketing, and economics during their brief stay in NY.

We wish the students the best of luck in their future endeavors! Special thanks to Christian Perticone of the College of Staten Island, Matt D’Aquila, and Mitsubishi Corporation (Americas) for taking the time to help make this event a success.
