MONDAY, NOVEMBER 7—The Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry of New York, Inc. (JCCI NY) hosted its 38th Annual Dinner Gala, Moving Towards the Future, to celebrate the vibrant, bilateral U.S.-Japan partnership. This year’s theme focused on the betterment of how we work and live as we recover and rebuild for the times ahead. After 3 years, we were delighted to gather in full capacity at the New York Hilton Midtown to recognize the contributions that this year’s guests of honor have made to our community.

This year, the Chamber recognized Ms. Suzanne Basalla, President & CEO, U.S.-Japan Council, and Dr. Syukuro Manabe, recipient of the 2021 Nobel Prize in Physics, for the Eagle-on-the-World Award; Mr. Norman Mineta, 14th United States Secretary of Transportation, and Mr. Shinzo Abe, Former Prime Minister of Japan, for the Commemorative Award; and Mr. Ian Bremmer, President & Founder, Eurasia Group and GZERO Media, as the Keynote Speaker. Mr. Ryoichi Shinke, Senior Managing Executive Officer, Deputy Regional Executive for the America, MUFG Bank, Ltd., served as the Dinner Chair, and Mr. Paul Knopp, Chair and Chief Executive Officer, KPMG LLP, served as the Dinner Co-Chair. The Orpheus Chamber Orchestra was this year’s entertainment, and Ms. Christina Maxwell served as this year’s MC. The gala’s dinner service appetizer was prepared by Nippon Club Executive Chef Mr. Hideki Yasuoka. National Anthems were sung by James C. Harris, accompanied by Marco Rizzello (Piano).
