Every
summer, the
U.S. Educators Program takes
a group of educators from several schools and
school districts in the
New York
tri-state area on a two-week trip
to
Japan
.
The program, which is into its 19th year, provides
U.S.
educators with an opportunity to further their
understanding of
Japan
through their exposure to the culture, the people,
the environment, the traditions and the
educational system. Since
the inception of the program, 258
educators and 134 accompanying persons (a total of 392
people) have
participated and many have shown their appreciation for the experience and knowledge obtained
through this cultural and educational program.
This
year, the delegation of 14 Educators including
district superintendents, principals and ESL
teachers together with 10 accompanied persons will
travel to
Osaka
,
Kyoto
,
Kanazawa
, Hakone and
Tokyo
from June 27 to July 11, which
includes visits to local schools
and local government offices. Shinichi Suzuki, President of Ajinomoto U.S.A., Inc., is the Chairman of the
Community Affairs Committee, and Kazuhiro Kato,
Vice President of NEC Corporation of America, is
the Chairman of the 2007 U.S. Educators Program
Task Force Committee.
A
Bon Voyage Party and Orientation was
held on
Friday, June 8th prior to the trip.
U.S.エデュケーターズプログラム壮行会&オリエンテーションが6月8日日本クラブで行われた。当プログラムはトライステート(NY・NJ・CT)の現地学校・教育関係者及びその配偶者を2週間に亘り日本へ派遣するプログラムで、ニューヨーク日本商工会議所地域関連委員会が毎年実施している。
1989年に開始された当プログラムは、日本人子弟を多数抱える学校区や学校の教育者を日本に派遣し、日本人の児童・生徒達とのコミュニケーションの向上と相互理解を深めてもらい、併せて日頃の日本人子弟のための献身的な努力に感謝の意を伝えようというもので、これまでのプログラム参加者はこの19年間で教育者258名、同行者134名(合計392名)にのぼっている。
19回目を迎える今年は14名の教育者が選ばれ、配偶者を含む計24名が6月27日~7月11日に亘り日本を訪問することになり、本年度参加者及び関係者が壮行会とオリエンテーションに参加した。
