Mitsui USA New York Volunteers for its 10th Japan Day@Central Park

On Sunday, May 8, 2016, Mitsui New York continued a Japan Day@Central Park volunteer tradition, with 2016 marking the 10th anniversary of this free, day-long Japanese festival and of Mitsui employees' participation at the event.

Japan Day@Central Park festivities kicked off with a 4-mile Japan Run, sponsored by the New York City Road Runners, and filled the green oasis of the Park with family-friendly stage shows, activities, and food tents.

For Mitsui New York, the popular Japanese food tents is where employees have been wholeheartedly volunteering in recent years, serving the public, young and old, with a smile, while preparing thousands of individual servings, like delicious gyoza, steamed dumplings filled with minced vegetables or pork.

As a "Thank you New York!" Japan Day@Central Park was designed with the aims of deepening the understanding of Japanese culture, strengthening local Japanese grassroots connections, and recognizing New York as a nurturing home city for one of America's largest Japanese communities.

Mitsui New York employees feel they are a great fit for the Japan Day@Central Park design, with volunteerism that furthers awareness and appreciation for Japan and its culture.
