Mizuho Volunteer Day & The Mizuho USA Foundation

Over 1000 volunteers in 26 cities worldwide took part in Mizuho Corporate Bank's annual day of community service, Mizuho Volunteer Day, in 2010. In New York, 100 Mizuho volunteers painted a day care center managed by Union Settlement Association in East Harlem on September 11, 2010. The Mizuho USA Foundation, the U.S.-based charitable foundation of Mizuho Corporate Bank, also made a donation to Union Settlement Association in celebration of this partnership. The Foundation's primary mission is to make program grants to charitable organizations that help sustain and revitalize urban communities. Since its inception, the Foundation has supported a wide range of organizations and programs addressing the needs of low-income neighborhoods and their residents.

"In recent years the difficult economic environment has created a situation in which community needs have increased while the resources have diminished. The Mizuho USA Foundation is pleased that this past year we have been able to support and strengthen many of our existing partnerships and build new relationships with organizations that continue to creatively and successfully address issues confronted by so many,"noted Tsuyoshi Monri, President, Mizuho USA Foundation. "We are proud to be associated with outstanding not-for-profit organizations who are doing so much to combat homelessness and the foreclosure crisis, help train and place the unemployed, and revitalize communities through affordable housing and workforce initiatives."
